Happy Retirement Chuck

One of my husband’s co-workers is retiring this week after 38 years. I’m sure my husband will miss him – they have worked a lot of shifts together in the past 13 years and his wife’s name is Betty too. We wish them much happiness as they start their retirement together.

Chuck’s card was inspired by a card made by trinh. I just changed up the colour scheme and stamp. It was a lot of fun and loved pulling out my eyelet stash that were tucked away in a bottom drawer. My photography skills are not that great – as the colour of the card should be light gray with dark blue.

Get Well x 2

I wanted to make a get well card for one of my co-workers who is off work battling the big C. She is such a great person and we really miss her at work – she is one of our great team of IT people. This is another take on the card I made a few days ago seen here.

I decided to use that same sketch and make a get well card. As I had made this card before, I knew what I wanted to change. I used ribbon instead of felt and this time I tried a little bling instead of punched flowers. I used DP designed by Jen Wilson for My Mind’s Eye – truly love this 2 sided paper.

I needed to send out another get well card in the mail immediately – so, as I had all the dimensions still handy I made another card using the same materials, except that I used the flower punch instead of the bling. I prefer the bling a little better, but maybe if I had a little more time I should have added some bling to the center of the punched flower and that would probably have worked.

Yeah – the weekend is here – time to make some cards. First up is a card for my father-in-law. He will be celebrating his 81st birthday on Monday. He doesn’t use a computer or go on the internet – so I am safe to post his card in advance.

I used the clean and simple technique that Kristina Werner taught us in the Clean and Simple Card Camp last week. So simple and fun to make and experiment with different papers. The hardest part is trying to keep the pen lines in somewhat of a straight fashion – love how much that adds to the card.

Sympathy

A quick sympathy card with a little bit of a masculine look to it. I was browsing SCS and came across a card here that I thought was so eye-catching.

I decided to use that same sketch and make a sympathy card. I kept the same colour scheme but used different DP. I added some stitching to the felt to give it that little extra zing. I found that the felt was just a little too thick for my liking – I ended up using two pieces of dimensionals, stacked one on top of the other, to match the height that the felt created on the card. I think for the next card, I will just use card stock instead – that is the fun of card making – you can always change up things on the next card.

Sympathy

I needed a sympathy card for a co-worker whose father-in-law passed away on the weekend. The card I made today was a case of a card I had originally made at a class at the Paper Pickle. I used a different designer paper and changed up the colour scheme. This card is fun to make as I used two different nestabilities and if you notice on the side where the ribbon is tied – there is a small punch cut-out. This was done using the 1″ round punch and only punching half of the circle onto the green strip and DP. This is a really neat way to profile the ribbon tied on the side. I also loved how the dandelions are lightly stamped underneath the sentiment – it gives a soft feel to the card. An extra touch – I coloured white ribbon with a Copic Marker to try to get the colour of ribbon that I needed for the card because I did not have anything close in my ribbon stash.

I needed a really quick card because it had to go out in the mail today so that it would arrive on time. I am enrolled in the Clean and Simple Card Making Class, which is fantastic. At the end of Day 1 there was a section called Additional Inspiration – so I checked out the blogs that were listed there and I found this neat card titled hello by Jennifer McGuire. I used her design layout and created my “smile” card. It was quick and simple.

I subscribe to a forum called Card Requests on SCS which is a forum where people can request you to send cards to their family members, friends, just about anyone. They usually accompany the request with a story about the person for whom they are requesting the cards for. Today, I read about Regina here and it inspired me to make her a card. I have been saying for a while that I need to get serious about making cards again and Regina you inspired me to do it. I hope you enjoy your card.

Just have a quickie post for you today. I had a request for some masculine thank you cards. I was browsing the SCS Gallery awhile back and found a great card, but I cannot remember who was my inspiration. I kept her layout and just changed up the colours and sentiment.
